Openbay Named an “Innovative Technology of the Year – IoT” Finalist for 18th Annual Technology Leadership Awards

2015 Mass TLC Leadership Award Finalist

July 20, 2015, Cambridge, Mass. – Openbay, the only nationwide online marketplace for auto repair and maintenance services, today announced that it has been named a finalist in the Innovative Technology of the Year – Internet of Things for the 2015 Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) Technology Leadership Awards.

Openbay’s new IoT platform, OpenbayConnect, announced earlier this year, is a first-of-its-kind platform that leverages connected-car technology to remotely diagnose automotive vehicle problems and deliver competitive repair quotes to consumers from local mechanics.

MassTLC unveiled the finalists for the 18th annual awards during a cocktail reception hosted at the Microsoft NERD Center.  Attended by hundreds of executives, technologists, investors, media, analysts and other members of the Massachusetts innovation ecosystem, this year’s award nominees represent the best of the region’s tech industry in 16 categories. A complete list of finalists appears on the MassTLC site.

“Our congratulations to Openbay and to all of the 18th annual MassTLC Leadership Awards finalists. Each one is an example of the executive leadership, business acumen and technological innovation fueling Massachusetts’ economy and an example of the breadth and depth of talent in our region,” said Tom Hopcroft, president and CEO of Mass Technology Leadership Council.

“It’s an honor for our OpenbayConnect platform to be recognized as a leader in IoT,” said Rob Infantino, Openbay founder & CEO. “By leveraging connected car technology, OpenbayConnect will remotely determine cause, cost and availability to perform the repair by local mechanics, answering virtually every driver’s need for efficient, affordable auto repair service.”

Finalists were selected from hundreds of nominations, as judged by panels of executives, investors, analysts, media and thought leaders in each of the 16 categories who participated in the selection process. The pool of finalists will be further narrowed during the coming weeks. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 16, at the MassTLC Leadership Awards Gala at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
